For some, the continuous adding of creams and lotions for anti-aging is causing aging. If you want a simpler and continuously effective way to keep your youthful look, then supplementing your daily nutrients with facial exercises for anti-aging may be a great way to stop wrinkles from adding extra weight on your skin.

The first area that you can focus on for anti-aging exercises is the chin and neck area. If you have a double chin or sagging skin in these areas, then using the anti-aging facial exercises can help. The exercises will trigger specific oils that are in your skin, allowing it to continue to keep cells active and to keep the cells moving.

“The exercises will trigger specific oils that are in your skin, allowing it to continue to keep cells active…”

With the entire chin and neck exercises, you will want to move so that you are looking towards the ceiling. With the first exercise, you can pucker your lips in a repetitive motion. Each time you pucker, you should try to stretch further. The second exercise is to chew in a repetitive motion. It is important to keep your lips closed completely while doing this. The
last set of exercises to do is to stick your tongue out and point it towards your nose. You will want to hold this position for 10-20 seconds.

The second area to focus on is the upper part of your face, including your forehead and eyes. This will help to eliminate bags under your eyes, crow’s feet, wrinkles on your forehead and other aging signs. For eye exercises, you will want to begin with your eyes closed. You will want to move your eyes up and down repetitively while your eyelids stay closed. You can do this same exercise with your eyes open, also moving them to the sides. When you have finished this, you will want to keep your eyes closed and move your eyebrows up. The longer you are able to hold this position, the better.

You can then move into working on your forehead. The first movement is to squint so that your eyebrows move down. You will then want to wrinkle your nose upwards and flare your nostrils. You will want to hold this position. The next exercise is to stretch your eyebrows upwards while moving your eyes apart as far as you can.

The last part to take care of with exercises is the lower area of your face, specifically the lips and cheeks. With your lips, you can do repetitive puckering exercises. You can do this first by pointing your lips towards your nose, then by separating your two lips while puckering. You can also practice moving from a smile to a pucker. For your cheeks, you can add in the anti-aging facial exercise of sucking in both of your cheeks like a fish. You can alternate this with blowing your cheeks outwards.

These are only a few of several anti-aging facial exercises that you can use. All of them are known to help even out the skin cells, oils and other materials in your face and skin. If you continue to do these exercises everyday, you can expect your face to keep an even, smooth and youthful tone.

As years creep in, the cheeks sink in and hollows appear where once they were full and plump. This is due to the shrinking of the supporting muscles. There are four of these muscles on each side of the face. As we grow older these muscles lose their strength and elasticity. And this change produces the pendant or loose jowl characteristic of age, just as their lessened size is the cause of the hollows in the cheeks.

These are voluntary muscles and can be exercised at will. Just as exercise of the muscles of arms, legs and any other part of the body can improve them; exercise of the facial muscles will yield the same result. There have been
wide publications of these systems of facial exercises in beauty books and essays. It is termed as “facial gymnastics or making faces” and will produce remarkable results when practiced faithfully and persistently.

A far better and quicker method is a massage system, which I have devised and practiced while the cheek muscles are contracted. By this, satisfactory results can be obtained in a very short time, and with very little trouble.

First familiarize yourself with the position of these cheek muscles. There are eight long muscles, four on each side. They are attached to the cheekbones immediately below the eyes. From there, it descends to become attached to the wide muscular band surrounding the mouth. You can contract these cheek muscles at will, this action forming a bunch on the cheekbones under the eyes.

There is another set of strong muscles that holds up these cheek-supporting muscles. It is also fastened to the cheekbones extending downwards and is attached along the jawbones. This may be termed as the chewing muscle. And while it plays an important part in supporting the cheeks and determining their contour, it cannot be contracted or exercised at will, except in the act of chewing. Its action is independent of the cheek muscles; although when they are contracted upward some tension is placed upon it.

In youth these muscles are, or should be, strong, elastic and can support the tissue and skin overlying them, giving the cheeks the full, round appearance characteristics of that period of life. As years advance, lack of exercise can shrink and lose their former size, strength and elasticity just as any muscle of the body will do under like conditions. The skin covering will lose its support, fall into the creases and create wrinkles.

These are the obvious indications of physical age, as they tell the tale of the shrunken muscles underlying. There is one cure for these wrinkles, wasted chin and hollow cheeks and that is the restoration of the supporting muscles to their former plumpness and strength. All the so-called solutions such as medicinal preparations, “skin foods”, etc. would not work especially if not accompanied by exercises.

“All the so-called solutions such as medicinal preparations, ’skin foods’, etc. would not work especially if not accompanied by exercises.”

It is true that by a system of diet, and especially by drinking copiously of milk, an increase of fatty tissues can be obtained. The face will become more plump and the surface of the skin smoother. But if the underlying muscles are not developed the face will still present a flabby look, the jowl may sag and the appearance of a double chin be more pronounced. These facial indications of physical age are not especially the signs of advanced years, being principally due to lack of exercise of the supporting facial muscles.

The explanation of the speedy enlargement of the muscles “deeply massaged” would be that the network of blood vessels and the countless capillaries become distended when pumped by blood through the process. This is a healthy congestion and if persistently practiced, will have a permanent development thus returning the elasticity and fullness of youth.

I do not claim that large muscles produced by this method indicate great strength. But for a faster and obvious result in regaining the plumpness and filling out of the cheeks, chin and jaw, this is the most effective way.

Baby Boomers everywhere are searching for the Fountain of Youth and they have been looking in all the wrong places!

Men and women born between 1946 and 1964 are facing the most arduous and difficult challenge of their existence- the challenge of growing older while maintaining their youthful essence that stems from the Flower Power era.

The fitness craze that began with Jack LaLanne in the 60’s has mushroomed to encompass many avenues and modalities of boomers seeking better biceps and rock hard abs. After years of working out, running, lifting, bicycling, tennis and more, these die-hard seekers of youth are still seeking something greater that will keep them looking younger than their years because their faces have not enjoyed the benefit of exercise. A toned, healthy looking body does not produce a toned, healthy looking face.

The crusade to look young has been lead by women; they embraced skin care products early on and they have continued to act as guinea pigs for the drug companies and plastic surgeons by allowing new products and procedures to be practiced and tested on them. Whether the procedure is strings embedded in the face, paralyzing injections or fillers; long term affects are unknown. The media’s fascination with looking young has fueled women’s desires making surgery and injections glamorized, sensationalized and well publicized.

The men have been slowly lured to join women into actively using skin care, hair dye and even plastic surgery. The metro-sexual males now frequent salons and spas on a regular basis for facials, hair removal techniques, massage and dermabrasion. Why? Who wants to look old and used-up? No one raised their hand.

This full-court push for youthfulness has no end in sight. More than ever we read statistics that demonstrate how millions and millions of dollars are spent each year trying to catch the elusive “young” gene. Some ads even suggest paying for these expensive, risky and temporary procedures with a second mortgage and maxed out credit cards; after all, with the average procedure
nearing $25,000, not everyone has the kind of disposable income available that can buy a new face.

Facial plastic surgery is a temporary and very risky procedure. Plastic surgery requires frequent updating and even when the surgery goes well, the patient may not like what they see. Considering these surgical procedures are voluntary, it is frightening that people consent to them knowing that scarring and nerve damage occurs with every procedure. Blood clots, infection and irregular bleeding are also common side effects associated with surgery.

“Facial plastic surgery is a temporary and very risky procedure.”

Injections, too, are temporary and made from chemicals that have no long-term test results. How many injections are too many? It is reported that patients sometime have more than one doctor injecting substances on a regular basis resulting in double the prescribed amounts recommended.

Facials do make the skin look cleaner and healthier but are you under the misconception that facials and chemical peels can correct a sagging double chin or heavy eyelids?

Plastic surgeries, facials, peels, or injections will not stop the root cause of aging.

The root cause of facial aging begins with sagging facial muscles. Yes, there is aging due to sun exposure; it typically begins to show up about the same time that your muscles are affected by the downward pull of gravity. This means that over time, your skin and facial features will be adversely affected resulting in the look of old.

That’s right…as we mature we begin to resemble our mothers, fathers, grandparents, Aunt Hilda and Uncle Bernard. The facial muscles lose their tone and resiliency; in fact, by age 55, the muscles in your face may have already elongated by one-half inch. This means your face is sagging, pooling downward, making you look old and tired.

There is a solution. Sagging facial muscles can be remedied using specialized isometric contractions that work to plump up those small, wayward muscles. Muscles thrive when blood flow is increased – think of curling your arm using a dumbbell – after 5 to 8 reps, you feel the muscles respond. Couple the resistance with contraction and your face responds by lifting. In just minutes a day, you can pro-actively give yourself a youthful face just by exercising it.

The great part about using this type of exercise, rather than contortions, scrunches and puckers, is that these unique moves work for everyone. That’s right, when the exercises are performed regularly, you will see a visible difference that is better looking than a surgical facelift.. Your face will tighten and your skin will thicken.

It just makes sense. When you tone and sculpt your body with Pilates, weight and resistance training, you are proud of your new look. The same goes for your face. When you see and feel the lifting, your confidence soars!

In the gym, it is not uncommon to hear the wails and grunting of lifters hunched over machines and free weights jerking out reps– attempting to exercise away their nagging back, neck and shoulder pain. Exercise can be the perfect cure for pain. But even stretching, followed by ab crunches usually lead to the massage table. And while the traditional workout routine may fill the pockets of your masseur, it is unlikely to bring you lasting relief. Lower back pain is the second most common cause of missed work days in the United States, yet 85% of cases remain unexplained.

“There is no such thing as generic pain” said Stuart McGill M.D., a professor of Spine biomechanics at the University of Waterloo. “Somewhere a weak link has been created and this link will eventually breakdown”

Over the last century, Americans have seen a marked rise in chronic lower back pain as heavy labor jobs have been replaced by occupations which require workers to remain sitting for long periods. McGill says that daily habits which lead to poor posture are often the source of chronic back pain (think leaning forward at the computer or twisting your torso while bending over). Some tell tale signs of bad posture are slouched shoulders and a rounded lower back.

“Leaning forward continually shifts pressure on to the back. Pulling back the shoulders back, and tucking in the chin can often bring immediate relief by taking significant load off the back” said McGill.

Do you take short steps and lean forward when you walk? Walking is one of many activities which can help or hurt the lower back. Common walking posture mistakes are leaning forward, leaning back, and failing to keep the head up and eyes forward. Simple corrections to your posture can help to relieve low back pain.

But regardless of posture, the source of back pain remains different for everyone. Factors such as the genetic, neurological factors and aging process play a key roles in determining your pain. And the cycle of injury can begin early in the morning. During sleep, the disks in your back act as packets which fill with water. But while this may make you feel taller, it also makes the back up to three times more likely to sustain injury in the morning.

“Factors such as the genetic, neurological factors and aging process play a key roles in determining your pain.”

Stretching in the morning is an example of something which most would assume would help to relieve pain. But bending over at a time when your disks are filled with fluid places extreme stress disks When it comes time to exercise, stretching can actually decrease performance by stiffening the muscle. As an alternative warm-up, McGill suggests exercises such as birddogs, side planks, wall squats, and dragon walks– keep the spine in a neutral position while mobilizing the hips through a range of motion. The idea is to keep the muscle under load and motion during the mobilizing warm-up.

In the gym, effective lower back rehabilitation focuses on free weight exercises which work multiple joints to create stability such as squatting and dead lifts. But before progressing to strength training, it is important to address the underlying cause of back pain– by correcting the source of your imbalance.

This process begins by strengthening weak gluteual (rear) muscles which provide stability to the pelvis and trunk. This can be done without weights, using exercises such as front, and side bridges which keep the spine in a neutral position. The next step is to create stability in the muscles around the back with exercises for the abdominal, oblique and back extensor muscles.

Once proper posture has been established, training with light weights can be safely resumed to build up muscular endurance. McGill says those experiencing common lower back pain should engage in weightless exercises for at least the first 3 weeks before weight training is resumed. Significant pain relief can be noticed in as little as 3 months, but whatever exercise you choose, it is best to stay away from lower body machines.

Lower body machines like leg press, and the roman chair shift additional load on to the back. Sitting down and pressing against the spine against the back pad of a machine a is a great way to re-aggravate your pain.

The jury is still out on the best workout program for lower back pain, but here are a few guidelines and exercises guaranteed to bring relief:

* Birddog: This exercise works the lower back. Start on all fours with hands under the shoulders and the knees directly under the hip. For the patient with the a stiff lower back, the first step is simply lifting a hand or knee off the floor. After you are able to raise your hand or knee without pain, progress to raising the opposite hand and knee together. The objective is to hold the limbs parallel off the floor for six to eight seconds. Good form includes a neutral spine and sucking in your gut.

* Bridges: This exercise is for the glutes and abdominals. Lie on the floor with your knees bent. Squeeze your glutes and then push your hips up until there is a straight line through knee and hip to upper body. Shoulders remain on the floor. Beware of raising too high or of flaring the ribs, which pushes the back into hyperextension. Hold this position for an increasing length of time up to a maximum of one minute. Perform two to three sets.

* Side bridges: This exercise strengthens the side obliques glutes, quads, and lats. Lie on side, support yourself on one elbow and stacked ankles. Lift midsection from the surface of the table. Maintain neutral to hold this position as long as possible, until you begin to lose neutral or note discomfort. Repeat this on the other side.

* Cat/Camel: This is an exercise for the neck. Kneeling down on all fours begin with your head looking down at the floor. Now, nod your head up and down in a continuous, rhythmic motion for 15-30 seconds at a time. Note that this exercise is performed with continuous motion.

* Abdominal bracing: Abdominal bracing is the act of “stiffening” or tightening the muscles of the midsection. An abdominal brace protects the spine by forming a brace of muscles around the spine. This stiffening of the core muscles should be done during all activities to protect the low back.

Exercise program progression:

1. Start with bridges and side bridges to strengthen the glutes. 2. Proceed to birddogs, and bridges for back stability. 3. Hold out repetitions in each exercise for no longer than 8 seconds. The goal is to build muscular endurance, by gradually increasing your repetitions.

Chances are almost every family will deal with either a stroke or other catastrophic muscle debilitating illness, trauma or injury – usually, this produces an inability to adequately formulate and articulate words and phrases. Most likely, these patients will require certain retraining from a speech pathologist or an orofacial mycologist to strengthen the lips, tongue and facial muscles.

There are many conditions that can be treated with facial retraining; thumb suckers, those who experience swallowing problems, open bite and tongue protrusion can be successfully treated with orofacial myology therapies, orthodontics and other occupational modalities

“There are many conditions that can be treated with facial retraining.”

Orofacial therapy
is primarily facial exercise that has been proven to alleviate the horrors of cosmetic surgical failures, aid orthodontic cases, Bells Palsy, Down Syndrome, and Facial Muscle Paralysis and so on. Facial exercise provides regained balanced symmetry to restore the face as it was before; this is very exciting information because in the past, what was done with surgery, can usually be accomplished with facial exercise.

One facial exercise client described how allergies had caused under eye puffiness and swelling; this caused him to look angry and tired. After just a few days of using certain facial exercise techniques, he wrote to say his breathing had dramatically improved and as a bonus, the swelling had decreased so he looked and felt better.

Facial exercise can also be used cosmetically. Rather than opt for a surgical procedure for treatment of a sagging face, facial exercise can provide much needed lifting, toning and strengthening of the face and neck. Exercise for the face produces the best possible facial appearance, altering facial expression in just minutes a day in the privacy of one’s own home. The results can be startling and in fact, obtaining phenomenal results is very simple as the muscles rejuvenate and skin becomes revitalized with oxygenation. The stimulated cells thrive with increased activity that facial exercise provides.

Elective surgery is still risky as complications may arise; there’s usually loss of feeling or sensation for quite some time after the procedure and sometimes the results may be disappointing. With exercise the muscles and skin lift, tone and tighten restoring the face. Most facial exercise users believe they look years younger than those who have had face lifts. In fact, facial exercisers look better and better while surgical recipients are thinking …” when will I have to do this again?” The Medical Aspects of Facial Exercise Facial muscle disorders that compromise appearance and function can be treated to provide the best possible facial appearance and better self-esteem for every user.

How did you get started in FlexEffect?

I began teaching Facial Exercise in 1976. At that time, Isometrics were the only form of facial training known to the public. A year later, still teaching Facial Isometrics, I became interested in weightlifting and soon after stepped into competitive bodybuilding. This move called for a marked reduction in body fat. Consequently, this loss of fat had an aging effect on my face. As a Facial Trainer this was not an acceptable trade-off!

I had no intention of giving up bodybuilding, but determined to remedy my dilemma. On a hunch that resistance training could add fullness to my face in the same way it did to my body, I decided to convert each Isometric exercise into an exercise using resistance. This was the beginning of ‘Facial Resistance Training’ Est.1979

Knowing what it took to increase muscle density (fullness), I knew resistance training would be far more aggressive than the facial training I had been doing. This took a lot of nerve on my part since I, too, had been duped into thinking any handling of the face could prove detrimental. When I described my new training technique, which I later dubbed ‘FlexEffect’ as ‘an extension of bodybuilding’ or ‘facialbuilding’, fellow trainers thought I was out of my mind. Frankly, I wasn’t so sure they weren’t on to something.

Much to my relief, my hunch paid off. A very short time proved facial muscles to be every bit as responsive to resistance training as the rest of the body. My face was still thin, but with the extra lift and firmness, I went from gaunt to a healthier more athletic look.

Who would benefit?

Everyone. A better question would be: who would get the most out of it? The answer to this question is the person who starts early, before the signs of aging set in. For them, time stands still. However, the majority of testimonials reporting excellent results are not from the early birds; they are from the late starters — men and women ages 45, 50 and up.

Would you say FlexEffect is better than a surgical face-lift?

FlexEffect is not a magic bullet. There are those with such sun damage and advanced facial aging that they may never be able to achieve all they hope for in training. But that doesn’t mean they can’t get all the benefits that only training can offer.

Cosmetic surgery can alleviate lines and sag but it cannot replace the fullness of the face. In most cases surgery flattens the face, which is why so many women have cheek implants inserted at the time of their surgery. The exact opposite is true of facialbuilding. FlexEffect does a beautiful job replacing fullness, considered to be the most youthful feature of the face.

Those who start facialbuilding while their face is still firm could expect to erase the need for surgery indefinitely. Many late starters with an excessive amount of sun damage and sag may still find they get enough return from their training to forego a major facelift.

“Those who start facialbuilding while their face is still firm could expect to erase the need for surgery indefinitely.”

Before anyone ops for surgery they should first invest time in training to get as much out of it as they can. Then, if the results of their training stops short of their goal, by that time, electing to have surgery, they’ll find they won’t have the need for as much surgery and their skin will be in far better shape for healing. Once all is healed, they should jump back into their training and not let it happen again! What are your thoughts on Botox?

The most popular cosmetic procedure today is Botox. This procedure has done much to build my business. I have many clients who decided to give FlexEffect a try after trying a few injections of Botox.

Paralyzing the muscles (corrugators) to prevent frowning also causes those muscles to atrophy: within six weeks as much as half of the muscle is lost to atrophy. Over a period of time, repeated injections will result in hooded lids (drooping upper eyelids). The area of the injection also becomes extremely flat. This is not what I would call a fair trade off.

For every person trying to eliminate a line or furrow through Botox, there is a trainee eliminating the same line and furrow through FlexEffect – without the side effects.

What type of changes should one expect to see?

Initially, the change most Flexers comment on about three weeks into their training is how their face feels different to the touch. They notice increased tautness and thickness in the cheek and mouth area. Lips become more defined, and there is an increase in facial oil production. This is a real bonus since it is natural oil that holds moisture in the skin — bye bye dry skin! Three months will bring a visual lift in the cheeks, even more firmness, and smooth skin where there used to be fine lines. In six months, friends will be asking you to teach them the exercises.

How does Flexeffect affect the skin?

Without doubt, Flexeffect is a tremendous benefit to the skin. The supply of blood to a contracting muscle is ten times greater than normal. Resistance Training brings a vigorous supply of blood to the surface. This blood carries vital oxygen and nutrients to the skin and growing tissue, while carrying away old and damaged cells. With this constant flushing of oxygen and nutrients, the skin cells become healthier. Before a cell dies, it clones itself. This newly cloned cell will become healthier before cloning itself — and so on, and so on. This means better skin tone and better texture. The bottom line: you cannot beef-up muscle without beefing-up its surrounding tissue.

Like any form of fitness training, FlexEffect takes time and discipline. Muscle builds fast but it’s going to take your skin considerably longer (re-cycling of cells) to show the benefit of your training. Give yourself a year. I know a year sounds like a long time, but it’s worth it. Besides, you’ll be watching your face improve from month to month. Can’t get more exciting than that!

Once again, you see that there is a specific diet that is known to solve all your problems. Of course, it comes from a new state, has a new name, and works by eliminating all of those things you don’t need to stay healthy. You’ve heard it before, and you know that you will hear it again.

If you are not interested in knowing about the latest fad diet, why not turn to a program that has been used for centuries? Yoga for weight loss is a method that has been used to repair your body into a natural state and help to develop every area of your body. If you want to find a relaxing way to loose weight, as well as help with the overall health of your body, than understanding how Yoga works is a great place to begin.

When looking at Yoga as an exercise, one will be able to see that it is built for an overall increase in better body functioning. This doesn’t stop with weight loss. It also includes strength training, flexibility, balance and help with internal health. Whether you are beginning new workout routines, or are a triathlon, Yoga is a recommended form of exercise to continue to push your body to new levels of balance and health.

“…Yoga as an exercise…is built for an overall increase in better body functioning. It doesn’t stop with weight loss.”

Several of the exercises that are used for Yoga are designed to increase blood flow. As this circulation begins to change, it also begins to affect internal organs. There are a variety of inversion moves that are used in Yoga that specifically target on increasing circulation and working with internal organs. These all cause the digestive system to relax and shift. Many who use Yoga will refer to this as a massaging of the organs. Your body will begin to respond by detoxifying, or getting rid of the extra things that are in this part of your body. Over time, you will begin to feel the difference in your energy level, and notice the difference from the size of your clothing.

Not only will the blood flow begin to change to help with a cleansing of your internal organs, but there will also be a shift in cholesterol. Cholesterol is a fat that is used for energy and is necessary for functioning. If there is too much stored in your system, it can cause weight gain. Yoga poses will allow the blood and oxygen to move around the areas in the internal system that has extra cholesterol. Over time, it will remove the extra cholesterol that you don’t need; part of the detoxification process. If you have high cholesterol and practice Yoga daily, you will begin to see the improvements.

Moving beyond these direct affects for the body and weight loss in Yoga, are the other parts of the practice that can help to change the functioning of your body. Often times, weight gain is related to stressful factors in daily functioning and emotional overhauls that occur. Yoga begins with the breath first, and most of the poses are to be done at a slow pace. While you are twisting, you will also learn to relax. Combined with the physical effects of the movements, the mental charge behind this can help to support weight loss.

If you want to find the perfect exercise routine and not become involved in another diet fad, Yoga is a perfect solution. Among all of the other benefits that come with doing Yoga is the ability for it to pose your body into the shape that you want. No matter what your size, Yoga for weight loss can become a perfect fit.

If you are looking for a simple and supportive way to enhance all of your workouts, finding the right tools is the key. If you are working towards new techniques and tools that will assist you in this, then a Swiss ball may make a great addition to your workout routine. Knowing what types of exercises you can do with a Swiss ball can be effective with every workout.

Exercises using a Swiss ball are focused on working your core area. The core area is one of the most important places of your body to work. It helps to control your back, keep your balance, and keep you moving forward. The core body mainly focuses on the abdominal area as well as the back muscles. Not only does this help you to gain strength in these areas, but can also help to increase balance and stability as well as the ability to control the muscles that are in your core area.

“The core area is one of the most important places of your body to work.”

No matter what level of core training you are at, you can begin an exercise routine with your Swiss ball
to help you improve. Each exercise done will isolate various parts of your core, helping to build your overall functioning from your back and forward.

The first exercise that is done with Swiss balls is known as pelvic isolation. To begin this, you will simply sit on the ball with your feet hip width apart and your arms either on your hips or your side. You will then slowly move forward with your hips. Make sure to keep your back straight. You can then move back to center and to the back. You can do this same movement by moving from side to side, or by going in complete circles.

After you have isolated your pelvis area, you can move to working on your spine and back. While you are still sitting on the ball, move your feet forward while you begin to lean back on the ball. Make sure that you use the Swiss ball in this exercise as your main support for your back. You can stop when your ball is at the upper part of your back. You can then raise your arms over your head and straighten your knees. You can hold this position for ten seconds before rolling back up.

You can also work on the upper part of your spine with the Swiss ball. You will want to change your position so that you are kneeling with the ball in front of you. You can then place your chest to rest on the exercise ball. You will roll forward with the ball on your chest, while your knees straighten. Like the other stretches, you can hold this for ten seconds, than roll back to the kneeling position.

From these stretching positions, you can move into more complex exercises with the Swiss ball. If you want to work your abs, you can find Swiss ball exercises that will isolate every area. You can begin this workout with full or half crunches. With this, you will sit on the exercise ball first. For a half crunch, you will lean back half way without moving your feet. You will do this back and forth. For full crunches, you will simply change this to leaning back all the way.

If you want to improve your core strength, you can continue with more exercises with the Swiss ball. One is known as the walk-out. You can do this for both your front area, by kneeling and placing the ball in front of you, or for your back area, by sitting on the ball. With both of these walk-outs, you will place the ball closer to your buttocks area. If you are sitting on the ball, you will walk your feet forward until the ball is at your shoulder or neck area. You will then walk back to sitting position. If you are working the front area, you will do this same thing, beginning with the ball on your chest, and walking your hands until the ball is at your feet.

By doing this simple routine, and beginning to add in other options with exercising with the Swiss ball, you will have the ability to build your core area. Whether you want a stronger back or flatter abs, using the Swiss ball is a recommended way to get there quickly and with comfort. In no time at all, you will find that your exercise routine is rolling you into a better look.

If you are like some, you have probably seen the Yoga gurus twisting in awkward forms. This begins with putting their feet over their head, twisting it back around their shoulder on both sides, and standing on their hands. To conclude, they smile like it doesn’t hurt. Yoga doesn’t necessarily mean that you have to twist yourself until you are inside out and backwards. There are several Yoga positions that beginners can use in order to benefit from the practice.

If you are beginning with Yoga positions, you don’t have to make it complex. Before anything, Yoga is about learning to relax your body and taking away the daily stresses. This is a great thing to concentrate on when you are just beginning. There are several relaxation poses that you can easily do daily to help with relaxation and concentration on what your body really needs.

“…you don’t have to make it complex… Yoga is about learning to relax your body and taking away the daily stresses.”

Mountain Pose

The first relaxation move is used to prepare for other exercises. This is known as the Mountain Pose. When doing this pose, you will simply stand straight. Your arms should be at your side with your palms facing forward or at your side. When you are in this pose, you want to concentrate on taking deep breaths in and out of your nose.

Corpse Pose

Another relaxation pose is the corpse pose, and is usually done at the end of the routine. At this point, you will lie on your back on your Yoga mat. Your body should be straight, with your legs somewhat apart and your arms at your side. Like Mountain Pose, make sure that you concentrate on your breath. You can move from this pose to a seated position. Your legs should be crossed, and your back straight. This pose is often used to begin part of the Yoga meditation after a complete workout has been done.

Sun Salutation

If you want to build a basic routine with Yoga as a beginner, than the positions you want to know are from the sun salutation. This part of Yoga is used to build strength and heat in the body. The sun salutation will take anywhere from five to twenty minutes of an exercise routine, depending on how fast or slow you decide to move.

You begin the sun salutation in mountain pose. From mountain pose you will move into the standing forward bend. You will want your feet to be together. You will hinge your hips forward and reach your hands down to the floor, as far as you can go. Your head and neck should be relaxed, and your legs and back should be straight.

From the standing forward bend, you will move your hands to the mat to support your body. You can bend your knees if needed. You can then move your feet back, one at a time. Your hips should be extended towards the ceiling. This is known as the downward facing dog and is common to use as a transition point between moves. It is good to stretch the hamstrings and build strength in your upper body.

After holding and breathing here, you can move to forward plank. This is done by pushing your hips forward. It should look like you are in a push-up position, with your body parallel to the floor. After this, you will move into the Four Limbed Staff Pose, or Chaturanga. You will do this by moving your body down, so it is parallel with the floor and will move your elbows in. They should be bent and next to the chest of your body. Your toes should be rounded under.

From here, you will move into upward facing dog. Your upper body will move forward from the Chaturanga so that it is parallel with the wall in front of you. Make sure that you are looking towards the ceiling. Your hips should drop closer to the floor, but shouldn’t touch. If this pose is hard to hold, you can drop your knees. Make sure that your shoulders stay parallel with your hands.

You can then move back to downward facing dog, the forward bend and back to mountain pose. By doing these few moves, you will have a complete routine to help begin circulation for the day and to help you to build the heat that you need for other exercises.

Building Yoga positions for beginners does not need to take a lot of twisting, turning or work. You can use simple moves that will give you a kick-start for other routines. If you are interested in using Yoga as a way to help your body improve in a variety of areas, than you will want to begin by finding a combination of movements that start your journey towards better health.

It’s finally happened. You aren’t twenty-one anymore. It must be time to start looking at possibilities for anti-aging. You can now put on your punching bags and begin the training. You will want to get to the point where you can still look and feel great without having the cracked bones and the pains that several elder people have. If you are looking for a great anti-aging pill, then you don’t have to look any further than exercising properly.

When you begin to get older, your body will most likely go through different functions. Cells in your body may begin to slow down as you begin to get older. There may be differences in the rate that your metabolism is able to produce. Because you aren’t growing anymore, you don’t necessarily need the hormone for growth, meaning that it will slow down. This particular hormone slowing down will also cause the rest of the body to slow down, which begins the aging process.

How can you get the slowing down of age to speed up? One of the most obvious keys that you can use to help you is by staying active. It is proven that exercise can help to slow down the aging process and keeps everything else going at a higher rate. By keeping in physical shape, you will be able to help communicating with your body about what it needs in order to stay at its best. This particular communication can help your body both internally and externally.

Exercise will first help the aging process by creating different capacities in the body. This will mostly be done by aerobic exercises. Things as simple as walking and running, or even swimming can help to strengthen your internal system. Whenever you do this, you will be speeding up the heart rate for thirty minutes a day. Your metabolism and immune system will be keyed in by your body to also move faster to keep up with the heart rate. Not only will it help these functions, but will also strengthen the heart and its ability to beat regularly and properly. Exercise is a natural way to keep your internal systems working better, not only during the time that you are exercising, but also throughout the day.

“One effect of exercise is it will help the aging process by creating different capacities in the body.”

One of the major parts of aging is that there is a loss of thicker muscle tissue, causing for weaker body functions. However, this can also be prevented with the right amount of exercise. By continuing to keep muscle strength up, you will be communicating with the muscle tissue, as well as other tissues to stay stronger. The muscles will not only gain in strength, but also in flexibility and coordination. By building muscle, you will continuously be enabling lean muscle mass, one of the most essential parts to body functioning. These are things that should continuously improve as you age. When you don’t work them moderately at least thirty minutes a day, it can cause your body to weaken instead of strengthen as you grow older. As you age, it will help you to maintain regular, everyday activities, such as lifting objects and walking up stairs.

One of the most obvious ways that exercise effects aging is by the ability to stay at the right weight. Obesity and being overweight are some of the largest factors that relate to one being and staying overweight. The extra stresses from too much weight can cause the bones and muscles to weaken, instead being overtaken by resources in your body that aren’t as effective in the overall functioning. Being overweight or obese is one of the major problems that leads to diseases and dis-functions from the body, which eventually contribute to problems with age.
